Essi Heinänen

Compliance Counsel | UPM Kymmene Oyj

Essi is a legal professional with versatile experience in business law. She has worked as a public official, attorney, and in-house counsel. Her special interests lie in the fields of compliance, corporate governance, and business ethics. In addition to her legal studies, Essi has also completed a Diploma in Business Compliance. Currently, Essi works as a compliance counsel at UPM-Kymmene Corporation and she has described herself as “I am passionate about compliance and business ethics and I truly think this is my cup of tea! I believe that paying attention to these topics brings competitive advantage, cost savings, reputational benefits, and long-term sustainability to businesses”.

Mårten Schultz

LL.D | Stockholm University

Mårten has been a professor of civil law at Stockholm University since 2011 and he was previously a professor of civil law at Uppsala University. His academic work concentrates mainly on the law of responsibility, in particular, tort law and unjust enrichment law. Lately, Mårten’s work has focussed on human rights and private law, commercial law, and the protection of privacy on the internet. He has worked extensively as an advisor in trials and in the field of legislation.

Mårten is a legal commentator for a Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet and he hosts Juridikpodden, one of the largest legal podcast in Sweden, together with Tove Lindgren. He is a chairman of The Swedish Law and Internet Institute. His other engagements include acting as an editor for Svensk Juristtidning (Swedish journal for legal professionals), as a member of the Expert Committee for Prince Carl-Philip and Princess Sofia’s Foundation, and as a member of the Swedish Board of Nordiska Juristmötet (Nordic Convention of Lawyers).

In 2012, Mårten was named Teacher of the Year at Stockholm University and in the same year, he won the award of Lawyer of the Year. In 2017, he was awarded Natur och Kultur Prize for popular science.

Heidi Haanpää

Partner | Hannes Snellman

Heidi works as a partner at Hannes Snellman in Helsinki. She focuses on mergers and acquisitions, advising both corporate and private equity clients in a wide range of private M&A and public M&A transactions, distressed M&A, and other corporate arrangements. In addition, she advises clients on corporate law and corporate governance issues. Heidi has also worked as a visiting lawyer at Allen & Overy LLP in London.

Caroline Snellman

Managing Associate | Hannes Snellman

Caroline works as a managing associate at Hannes Snellman in Stockholm. She has experience in various fields of law, including court proceedings in the United States, cross-border and domestic transactions, and compliance matters. Caroline is part of the firm’s Corporate Responsibility & Compliance practice covering a wide range of critical areas of sustainable business. Caroline is a member of ICC Sweden’s Commission on Corporate Responsibility and Anti-corruption.

Anna-Maria Tamminen

Anna-Maria works as a partner at Hannes Snellman in both the Helsinki and Stockholm offices. She specialises in commercial arbitration and litigation. Prior to joining Hannes Snellman, Anna-Maria worked for several years as a foreign associate in the International Arbitration Group of WilmerHale in London. Due to her training and work experience in Finland, Austria, United Kingdom, United States, and Sweden, Anna-Maria has an in-depth understanding of both common and civil law legal systems. In addition to her work as counsel, Anna-Maria sits as an arbitrator, speaks regularly at dispute resolution conferences and teaches at law schools in Helsinki, Stockholm, and Vienna.
