In the course of the upcoming three weeks, we will be sharing stories about our pro bono work. The first story is about the work Associate Maja and Summer Trainee Sanna have done for UNICEF Sweden.
Pro bono work is a crucial way of implementing Hannes Snellman’s corporate citizenship work. Many of our pro bono clients, such as UNICEF, are our long-standing partners. UNICEF is an international inter-governmental organisation, established by the General Assembly of the United Nations. The organisation’s work is governed by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and it involves governments, civil society organisations, and other partners worldwide, in order to advance children’s rights to survival, protection, development, and participation. Hannes Snellman continuously provides advice and represents UNICEF on a pro bono basis in different legal matters and hands-on projects, in which numerous of our employees are involved.
What kind of legal matters have you worked with for UNICEF Sweden?
We have, among other things, helped UNICEF Sweden with legal matters relating to UNICEF’s corporate co-operations. We advise UNICEF Sweden on various legal matters, such as contracts, with the aim to promote and establish long-term relations between UNICEF and its partners.
How would you describe the significance of pro bono work with UNICEF Sweden to yourself?
It is indeed a pleasure to work with UNICEF Sweden, not only because of the good and important work that the organisation does all around the globe, but also due to the fact that it offers an opportunity to learn more about the organisation itself and get an insight into its cooperation with various types of enterprises, both nationally and internationally. It also feels worthy and meaningful that you as an employee at Hannes Snellman possess the means to contribute to UNICEF’s work in a unique way by providing legal expertise when needed.
